Overview: The 2 year TRACE project is funded under the EC 6FP Programme. The 16 full partners are from 8 EU countries and include vehicle manufacturers, universities, research labs and insurance companies.
Objectives: The overall aim is to provide the scientific community, stakeholders, suppliers, vehicle industry and other Integrated Safety Program participants with an overview of road accident causation in Europe, by analysing existing databases.
Main features of project: The project will identify, characterize and quantify the nature of risk factors, groups at risk, specific conflict driving and accident situations and estimate the safety benefits of a selection of technology based safety functions.
Our role: The VSRC is the leader of the central Data Supply workpackage, coordinating the exchange of accident and exposure data between the 16 partners. The VSRC also makes a significant contribution to the analysis and human factors workpackages, leading the tasks on Degradation Scenarios, Driving Task Associated Factors and producing a Grid of Accident Causation Factors. |
