Strategic decision making is needed at Government level where national and international policy is formed. The increasing demands for evidenced based policies means that accurate and timely information is essential.

New technologies offer great potential for casualty reduction and traffic management. However, before new technologies are widely used it is often necessary to predict the impact on accident numbers and measure the effect when real-world experience becomes available. New public policy also requires that initial and full impact assessments are conducted to ensure that anyl implications are identified at an early stage. Support for the development of Test Procedures and Standards based on objective research is also required for national administrations and to provide Industry with a mechanism to define and confirm the performance criteria of safety and transport systems.

We have a long history in crash investigation with well established links with police and hosptials around the UK that can form the basis of gathering new information on the safety aspects of transport systems as well as experience in carrying out Data Systems Analysis and essential Impact Assessments. We also have excellent links with other internal and external organisations to provide a single location to meet safety policy makers' needs on all aspects of safety and transport systems.
